THE SHORT ANSWER

Audio-to-text transcription recognizes spoken words in a recording and attaches timestamps. Upload audio or video to AI Free Audio to Video, correct the transcript, then copy it or export TXT, JSON and SRT without rendering a video.

Supported formats

Upload MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. Export plain text as TXT, structured lines as JSON, or timed subtitles as SRT.

How it works

1. Upload a recording

Choose a local audio or video file that contains sound. For video, the tool extracts the soundtrack before recognition. It does not read words printed in the video frames.

2. Select the spoken language

Choose a supported language or automatic detection. The server runs the open-source Whisper model to recognize speech and estimate word timing. Clear speech generally needs fewer corrections than singing or overlapping voices.

3. Correct and download the transcript

Review names, punctuation and line times in the result editor. Save your changes before downloading TXT, JSON or SRT. SRT contains timing; TXT is suitable when only the words are needed.

Limits and privacy

Audio and video files must be no larger than 100 MB and no longer than 10 minutes. Results belong to the current browser session and expire after 24 hours. The service is free, with no payment or subscription; queue and usage limits apply.

What to check before sharing

Recognition can omit speech or produce wrong words, especially in songs, noise or overlapping dialogue. Timestamps are model estimates, not guaranteed alignment. The tool does not identify speakers, translate transcripts or separate vocals from music. Platform-link import and in-browser recording are not supported.

Common questions

Does video-to-text read subtitles already shown in a video?

No. This workflow transcribes the audio track. To read visible text, save a clear frame as an image and use image text extraction.

Can I create subtitles from a song?

You can try, but singing can produce missing or incorrect lyrics and timing. Review and correct the result before sharing.

Is my audio sent to a third-party transcription API?

This deployment runs Whisper on the website server. Audio is processed on that server and is not sent to a third-party transcription API.
